Each year the Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies (ACESS)* awards a $1000 scholarship to a deserving undergraduate student in Science or Technology at The University of Akron. Applications for this scholarship award are now being solicited.
Applicants should have completed at least 45 semester hours of course work toward a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics. The award will be applied toward the winner's tuition for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters so applicants shouldn't expect to graduate before May 2009.
The winner will be selected based on GPA, field experience in the discipline, high-school science fair participation as an entrant or a judge, participation in student chapters of technical societies, other extra-curricular activities, career objectives, and financial need.
To apply for the ACESS scholarship fill out an application form and return it to Prof. K. Liszka in the Dept. of Computer Science by March 14, 2008. Faculty support letters attached to the form are recommended. An application form can be printed from the Web at: http://www.cs.uakron.edu/~kliszka/Form.html
The ACESS Education Committee will review the applications and select the winner. The award is in two parts: $500 sent to the Bursar to be applied toward the winner's Fall 2008 tuition and then another $500 to be applied toward his or her Spring 2009 tuition. The winner and a guest will also be invited to attend the ACESS Honors and Awards Banquet to be held on November 6, 2008.
