Computing and Research Facilities

The University has two libraries containing more than 1.8 million volumes. The Science and Technology Library has an extensive collection of journals and books as well as an on-line catalog and retrieval service and access to OhioLink.

The Department of Computer Science has two computer laboratories consisting of thirty (30) dual-booting workstations as well as a significant server infrastructure including a parallel computational cluster.

The lab machines run Windows XP Professional and Linux. Twenty five (25) of these are dual core and all have an LCD monitor as well as 3D graphics capabilities. They access department file servers which are backed up regularly. There are also remote access linux machines, and remote access windows machines are planned.

Some faculty and their graduate students engage in research activities with NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland and have access to a variety of computers located in that research center. In addition the department has access to the computers at the Ohio Supercomputer Center.
