Bulletin Description:
This course introduces and also enhances computer skills and literacy. Emphasis is on hands-on learning, computer terminology, methods, data representation/organization, operating system usage/configuration, usage of popular applications, and an introduction to simple programming.
Detailed Description:
The student will learn about typical computer operating systems, basic applications such as word processors, spreadsheets, graphics editors, presentation software, and html editors, basic WWW tools such as email, ftp, and search engines. In addition, network concepts and privacy and security issues will be covered.
Course Goals:
The successful student will be able to use relevant computer tools and apply intuition towards using future tools and application features through a better understanding of computers and software. This course will also strengthen existing computer skills.
