Prerequisite: 3450:100 with grade of C- or better, or placement. If you have not met this prerequisite, you may be removed from the course.

Text: A Graphical Approach to College Algebra, 4th Edition, Hornsby, Lial, and Rockswold (0-321-35689-6)

Objectives: To prepare you for daily needs of mathematics and for entry into courses for which this is a prerequisite.

Calculator: You may use a graphing calculator in this course. I will not spend time providing instruction on the use of your calculator.

Attendance: You must be present to take quizzes and exams. (unless prior arrangements are made with me). I expect students to attend all classes. There will be no opportunity to make up missed assessments.

Quizzes: I will give one quiz each week. Each quiz is worth 40 points. The lowest quiz score will be dropped.

Exams: There will be two exams in addition to the quizzes. Exams are worth 110 points each.

Grading: You will be assigned a letter grade based on the number of points earned in the course. Plus and minus (+/-) marks may be assigned at my discretion:

Homework: Although homework will not be collected, you are expected to do all of the assigned problems. Quizzes will be based on the homework assignments.

Withdrawal: Please consult the University Calendar to determine drop deadlines.

Note: Your name must appear on the official class list in order to attend this class.

You are responsible for working the odd exercises listed below. Answers should be checked in the answer manual. If you do not understand any problem, it is your responsibility to ask about it in class, in my office, or with a tutor.
